My life’s work has revolved primarily around “working with people” across the nonprofit, corporate and educational sectors.

In the mid 80’s, I was introduced to the magic of sea turtles and founded the SSTCN – Student’s Sea Turtle Conservation Network. This was my first brush with organizing people and resources towards a cause. The SSTCN, for more than 30 years now, builds a temporary hatchery each year, and contributes towards sensitizing people about sea turtles, our oceans and the environment. I had then graduated with a Master’s degree in life sciences. Further studies in wildlife management and conservation followed, first with the Smithsonian in Malaysia and then during a Masters-PhD in the United States, which I subsequently discontinued realizing that I wasn’t cut out for pure academia.

On returning to India, I established my outdoor education & special interest travel company – DreamCatcher (1994-2016) and operated some of the earliest Ecotourism and “Outward Bound” programs in the region. In addition to running my own programs, I have helped operate ecolodges and build other interpretative resources in and near protected natural areas.

In 2001, when Greenpeace began to establish a presence in India, I served as Director, Supporter Campaigns (Fundraising) – building the foundations for financial self-sufficiency for Greenpeace in India. Later, as Director, Other Media Communications and with its sister organisation, the Other Media, I worked within a large network of peoples organisations and movements on various issues and programs that concerned indigenous people, fisherfolk, refugees and those fighting against environmental degradation among others.

What do I do now? I continue to consult in the nonprofit and educational sectors, developing and facilitating organisational development workshops and solutions.
